Saturday was my first day of volunteering with the local PAWS (Pets Are Worth Saving) chapter. We had an adoption day at Petco in Florence and the handsome fellow you see in the picture above is Boo. He’s an American Bulldog, about a year and a half old and I had a fabulous time spending the day with him and searching for a new family to take him in.
Boo had been brought to the Colbert County Animal Shelter on Friday, February 29th by his owner who could no longer care for him. I’m happy to report that he only spent one night in the shelter because he was adopted by a wonderful family! His new home has an extremely large fenced in back yard, along with two other rescue dogs and two kids to keep him company. I have known the guy who took Boo home for several years so I am confident that this great dog will be loved and cared for in the best possible way.
Saturday was so much fun for me, despite being covered in white dog hair and being given several tongue baths by this 100 pound teddy bear! It really was a wonderful way to spend a day.
This Saturday, March 8, PAWS will be holding another Adoption Day at Pet Depot in Muscle Shoals from 11am to 3pm. Once again the animals up for adoption will be from the Colbert County Animal Shelter which makes their need for adoption more urgent because Colberty County is NOT a no-kill shelter. So if you have room in your life and in your heart for a new friend who will love you unconditionally and will never have other plans, please consider coming out Saturday and taking one of these special animals home!
