Why is it that when working on websites for other people’s businesses it’s all fairly easy for me? The design usually comes quick, followed by some coding and the the inevitable tweaking. But I’ve been trying to design my own site for about a month yet and I just can’t commit to anything. I think I’m putting too much pressure on myself to make it uber and therefore, nothing I’ve done so far looks good enough. I’m about to revert to simple design that will showcase my portfolio and give my rates and contact info and let that be it.

How we present other’s is never of the same gravity or concern as how we present ourselves.

if you are billing yourself as a web designer and your website sucks, you’ve got problems. have somebody else design it for you. maybe work out a trade deal with another designer.
also, every designer has the same problem. Can’t design anything for themselves. They are their own worst clients. They have major problems with commitment – so are afraid to do anything concrete for themselves because they won’t like it in a week.
Hi. I’m Joshua. I’m a designer. This is my first meeting. Thanks for letting me share.

Complex works of art, systems, or anything, are not created all at once; they are layered, built upon, and evlove.
Like music, lay down the first track and then continue laying down tracks and modifing as you go.
Even the creation of the universe was sequential and took several days. Though I could have done in less time and under budget.
